The Emergency Training Academy was designed to instruct students and teachers in life saving and emergency response techniques. This student-centered platform is designed to bring Certified Medical Professionals, EMT's, Fire Department, and other first responders trained in life saving skills right to the classroom. This 100% in-classroom training provides instructors with a platform to educate students and teachers, at no-cost, in the skills of Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) and in the utilization of equipment such as Automated External Defibrillators (AED). The standard of excellence in obtaining certification for both CPR and AED are based on the curriculum set forth by the American Heart Association Heartsaver Certification Program. The Emergency Training Academy is an independent program formed in collaboration with The Sevier County School Board of Education, as well as faculty and onsite teaching staff from local schools. Founded by Alyssa Champagne, a student from Gatlinburg-Pittman High School, this no-cost program was built by gathering donations through fundraising efforts, and it is designed to run indefinitely through the support of administrators, the student body, and The Sevier County Board of Education. We are grateful for the continued support of our area's first responders.
